š± Big Brother 28 Controversy Explodes As Frankie Grande Demands Kamu Kirkās Removal Over Alleged Anti-Drag Remarks
Frankie GrandeĀ wantsĀ Kamu KirkĀ to be removed from theĀ Big BrotherĀ house after he made comments about not wanting to do drag.
āUm. What the f*** is this horses***?! Get these homophobic bigots out of the f***ing house IMMEDIATELY. Both of them,ā Frankie, 43, wroteĀ via XĀ alongside a clip from the live feeds of a conversation between Kamu, 32, and Rick Devens over the weekend. āEw this conversation makes me sick to my stomach. Iām disgusted. This better be the biggest thing ever when I wake up tomorrow or Iām flipping a tableā¦ f***. Ew. Gross.ā
In the clip, which has circulated on social media, Kamu and Devens, 42, were reacting to alliance memberĀ Drew CampbellĀ who was wearing a set of unicorn-themed pajamas. Devens, who is the current Head of Household, asked Kamu if āthose dudes dressed in womenās clothes.ā Kamu confirmed they were which replied he revealed he was asked to participate as well.
āIām not doing that bro,ā Kamu told Devens who laughed and shared he wouldnāt consider participating untilĀ Jason De PuyĀ won an HoH competition. (Jason is a professional drag queen who is known outside the house as Salina EsTitties.)
Kamu doubled down on his stance stating that as a professional MMA fighter he canāt see himself doing drag.
āI said, āBro, miss me with the drag stuff.ā Miss me. Iām still an MMA guy, and I have an image to uphold,ā he told Devens who replied, āThatās tough.ā
Kamuās remarks were not directed at Jason, 35. While Jason told his fellowĀ houseguestsĀ that he is a professional drag queen, he omitted the fact that he previously competed onĀ RuPaulās Drag Race.
Frankie came to Jasonās defense online not only because they are members of the LGBTQIA+ community but because they are friends in real-life. While Frankie initially expressed outrage at both Kamu and Devens, he later walked back his criticism of theĀ SurvivorĀ alum.
āOk. I concede there is not enough info in the clip to understand [Devensā] motivations. Hopefully he was just taping [sic] into Kamuās energy for game reasons,ā he wrote in a subsequentĀ tweet. āRegardless, men behaving in a repulsed or shocked way when a man dresses feminine or in womenās clothing is homophobic. Period.ā
After Frankieās tweetsĀ went viral, the social media guru took to X to explain he made a āmistakeā with his initial criticism.
āAfter leaving the show and getting sober, Iāve been nothing but an advocate for the LGBTQ+ community. So seeing things like that and seeing people in the house that are definitely homophobic is just hard for me,ā he said in a clip sharedĀ via X. āIt always is. And I should not engage on X.ā
Jason is currently facing eviction from theĀ Big BrotherĀ household as Devens put him up alongsideĀ Melody MorrisĀ andĀ Lyric Medeiros. After Devens won the Power of Veto, he took Lyric off the block and named her showmanceĀ Rome SeymourĀ as the replacement nominee. Jason, Rome and Melody will face off in the BB Block Buster competition on Thursday, July 23, where one person will earn safety ahead of the houseās live vote.
